Atalanta director Giovanni Sartori has debunked the transfer rumours linking AlekseiMiranchuk with a move to fellow Italian football side Torino in the winter transfer window. According to him, his time at Atalanta will come amidst the frustration over a lack of playing time.

Miranchuk, 26, is said to be frustrated at his limited playing minutes at Italian football outfit Atalanta. The Russian national team player tasted Italian football for the first time when he moved to Atalanta from Lokomotiv Moscow in a €14.5m deal in September 2020. Miranchuk has been restricted to just eight games at Atalanta this season over two competitions namely the Champions League and the Italian Serie A.

Reports in the Italian media had claimed that Russian national team star Miranchuk will join fellow Italian football side Torino from Atalanta on loan with the obligation to sign him permanently at the end of the loan deal. Italian publications Tuttosport and Calcionews24 both stated that the Russian is closing in on a loan move to Torino.

The aforementioned transfer reports prompted Atalanta director Sartori to set the record straight on the matter in an exclusive interview with Itasportpress. The Atalanta official stated that the club has not discussed a possible move for Miranchuk with anyone amidst the transfer links with other Italian Serie A sides. He went on to say that Atalanta is certain that they can count on the player who has so much quality and that his moment would soon come. Sartori has no doubts that Miranchuk would be a hit at the Italian football club because he’s a fine player and a serious professional.

In his first season at Atalanta, Miranchuk had an attacking output of seven goals plus two assists in 31 matches. In addition, he has six goals in 40 appearances for Russia.
